This is my final journal entry for my internship and I’m not too excited about that small fact. It’s a small victory to say I made it through the entire internship, but I’m not ready to say goodbye. This experience has been one of the most incredible during my schooling. I am so appreciative of the time I got to spend at Liebl Marketing Group and I’m grateful that this marketing agency was where I started. I’m more sure now than I ever have been of the direction I would like my career path to go down. This has been the start of a great adventure and has inspired me to keep learning, keep asking questions and keep chasing success. I have so many new goals that I would like to accomplish and so much more learning I would like to pursue. I have this small agency in the heart of Des Moines to thank for that. The small agency values have instilled some of the best morals in me and helped me learn many lessons along the way. This is something I am positive I would not take away from a larger agency. I also got many opportunities to get my hands dirty and decorate my portfolio with a lot of experience. I cannot express how great this has been for me as I learned about the marketing world.
I worked on marketing plans for a client, sat through a few more meetings (and got the chance to give input in a couple of these), made some ads, got to do some more media buying and scheduled more social media for clients. I’ve done a lot of research, asked a lot of questions and figured out that I am exactly where I’d like to be. Every day is a new day and changes by the hour. It’s a fast-paced environment and it’s thrilling to be in. No two days are the same and I enjoy that as it keeps the week going. Every day has challenged me in different ways, some more than others. But they have pushed me beyond my comfort zone and showed me what I am capable of doing. It excites me for this semester at school and the semesters to follow.
I am incredibly excited to return to Liebl Marketing Group in March where I’ll be working during spring break. I can’t wait to see what’s going on when I come back and dive in once again, though only for a week.
My sincerest thank you’s to both Jon and Melissa who have let me take on so much during such a short time. Thank you for your patience while I learned new things, your help and guidance when I didn’t understand something and for believing in me and my abilities (sometimes more than I did). Thank you for a work environment in which I felt comfortable and confident. It made work that much better. And thank you Melissa, for the endless Starbucks runs, which were so necessary on the busiest days.
